Description du cours :
Construction deconstruction
Fast fashion can be defined as cheap, trendy clothes produced quickly by chain stores in response to the latest trends. The focus of fast fashion is affordability and convenience - largely at the expense of people and the planet. Fast fashion plays on the idea that repeating outfits is a fashion faux pas. Overproduction and overconsumption have led to the fashion industry being one of the biggest polluters in the world.

For this project, you deconstruct a garment of your own choice, in order to understand garment construction. In the deconstruction process, you will analyse his construction, by recognising the technique, research his material, the fibre and the thread. Garment construction is a technical accomplishment that requires the knowledge and skills of basic sewing techniques - application of stitches, seams, pleats and edge finishing. Its appropriate application in garment construction, is necessary for a good quality product. In this project the deconstruction of the garment is important in order to understand the architecture of a garment in relation with the movement of the body and his material.

Objectifs pédagogiques :
Construction deconstruction
This project offers a comprehensive exploration of garment construction through the critical practice of deconstruction. By dismantling an existing garment, students will gain insight into the foundational principles of textile design, learning to identify and interpret key elements such as material composition, construction techniques, recognise fibre and learn about his characteristics.

In the second semester, students will apply their analytical research to the creation of an original textile-based object. The emphasis is on experimentation within the creative process, where materials, techniques and theoretical context come together to support their decisions in design. At the end of the project, students will not only have developed a personal textile object, but will also be expected to be able to articulate their design ideas and research results in another language.
